Clare Curtis has over 30 years of experience working with children, young people, and adults who find life challenging for a variety of reasons and in different settings. Clare is passionate about play therapy and uses play and the creative arts to address the issues that bring each child to play therapy while recognising and respecting the need of each child to find their path.  She is an accredited play therapist with over 1000 hours of clinical experience.  She has witnessed first-hand the benefits play therapy offers to better equip children and young people to cope with whatever life brings.  Clare recognises that parents and carers are essential parts of the healing journey for children, and she enjoys working in partnership with them.

Clare holds an honours degree in Psychology from UCD and Post Graduate Diploma in Play Therapy from NUI Galway.  Clare is a trained practitioner in therapy techniques, Parent-Child Attachment Play and Baby Bonding.  She has additional qualifications in Training, Sports Psychology and Children’s Yoga.

Clare is an accredited member of the Psychological Society of Ireland, Play Therapy Irl. and IPTCA, is fully Garda vetted and carries professional indemnity insurance.

  • Clare offers play therapy sessions in our practice on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Our fourteen year old son Joseph is on the autism spectrum and recently changed schools from primary to secondary. He found the transition extremely difficult and was very anxious, finding it difficult to manage his emotions, express his feelings and this was affecting his day to day life and his sleep. We met with Clare Curtis for an initial consultation earlier in the year. She took the time to listen to us, get to understand our son and what we hoped to gain from the sessions. Joseph met with Clare once a week for play therapy and really opened up to her. Over the course of the twelve weeks we noticed he had more of an understanding of his emotions and a huge reduction in his anxiety which in turn has helped him day to day, his ability to express himself and also to sleep better. Joseph's own feedback from the sessions was extremely positive, he looked forward to meeting with Clare every week and after each session seemed more relaxed and happy. We are extremely grateful to Clare and would highly recommend her.
